Services for Alumni Members

Most of our 27,900+ books can be borrowed, with the exception of certain copies of recommended reading books and reference works. Journals may not be borrowed.
The Discovery lists all of the books in our collection. Select “Books”, type your search terms (by author, title, subject) and SEARCH.

Borrowing allowances for Alumni Members & Supporting Co.:

  • Maximum Loans: 5 books
  • Loan period: 30 days
    (This is the period for standard loans. There are some books with shorter loan periods.)
  • Renewals: 2 times 
    (Maximum renewals online. You should bring the book to the library desk for further renewals.)
  • Checkout: Borrow books at the Library Desk (Barcelona & Madrid) or via the Self Check machine in the Library Hall using your IESE card.
  • Returns: Return books at the Library Desk or via Self Check. After using Self Check, place the book in the Book Drop. When the library is closed, use the Book Drop outside the main door. 
  • Loan Assistance: Staff assistance (overdues, holds, etc.) is available during staffed hours only. 
  • Security: Unchecked books trigger an alarm. Users are responsible for all items checked out under their name. 
  • Due Dates: Books must be returned by the date on the Library bookmark or receipt. 
  • Renewals & Account Access: View your account, renew books online via My Library Card (sign in with your IESE username and password). Renewals are also possible via the Self Check machine.See our Self Check Machine Video Tutorial
  • Reminders & Overdues: A reminder email is sent five days before the due date. Once overdue, loans cannot be renewed, and no new checkouts are allowed until the book is returned.

 

You can “Request” a book that is currently on loan using the Discovery:

1. Sign in (use your IESE username and password – with @iese.edu or @iese.net). (See also How-to).

2. Find the item in the Discovery

3. Click “Request” (under “Get It”) while viewing the item information.

4. Choose where to pick up the item (Barcelona or Madrid).

5. Click the “Send Request” button, then the message “Your request was successfully placed“ will appear.

We will contact you by email when the book is ready to collect.

Lost books should be either replaced or paid for. You will not be able to borrow more books until you have made these arrangements.
